What we do.

Five engagements, each with its own scope, fee, and written agreement. Most clients hire us for one and add another when the situation warrants it. All fees are disclosed up front on the engagement letter before you sign.

Tax preparation

Federal and state returns: prepared, e-filed, supported.

Original and amended returns for individuals, sole proprietors, single-member LLCs, S-corps, and partnerships. We file federal and state, including multi-state, and we stay with the return after it's signed.

What's covered

  • Notice triage: read every IRS letter and reply with a real letter, not a panicked one.
  • Audit defense: correspondence, office, and field exams.
  • Installment agreements for balances due.
  • Offers in compromise when the math actually supports one.
  • Penalty abatement: first-time and reasonable cause.
  • Back-tax filings for unfiled years.
  • Innocent spouse relief petitions and appeals.
  • Identity-theft case resolution with IRS IPSU.

When this fits

When an IRS letter showed up that you don't know what to do with, when a return needs to be amended or filed late, or when a balance due is bigger than you can pay at once. Representation engagements often start with a single paid consultation to triage the situation.

One-time financial plan

A comprehensive plan.

A complete written financial plan covering cash flow, retirement, federal or military benefits, insurance, investment allocation, education funding, and estate basics. Implementation is yours; we hand you the playbook.

What the plan covers

  • Cash flow & debt review, and a savings policy you can actually follow.
  • Retirement projection with sensitivity to inflation, returns, and your specific career path.
  • Federal & military benefits: FERS, TSP, BRS, BAH, special-category rules, pension election analysis.
  • Investment allocation guidance: asset classes and account types, not named funds.
  • Insurance review: disability, life, liability. Gap-finding, not product-selling.
  • Education funding if it's on the table.
  • Estate basics: wills, beneficiary designations, healthcare directives.
  • Action plan with prioritized next steps and a decision sequence.

When this fits

You want a comprehensive view of your finances once, you'll implement it yourself, and you don't need an ongoing planning relationship. A one-time plan is also the right starting point for clients who later move into ongoing planning.

Ongoing planning

A planning relationship that keeps up with your life.

For clients whose situation changes often enough that one plan won't cover it: PCS moves, promotions, RSU vests, retirement transitions, new business income. Includes scheduled reviews and access between them.

Standard scope

  • Annual plan review: full update to the written plan every year.
  • Quarterly check-ins aligned to the tax calendar.
  • Decision support when something material happens between reviews.
  • Allocation review on the schedule the plan recommends.
  • Tax-aware retirement contribution sequencing and Roth conversion analysis.
  • Federal & military benefit decisions as they come up.
  • Cash flow & savings policy maintenance.
  • One point of contact for the planning side of your financial life.

When this fits

You want a single advisor for the planning side of your financial life, with someone who already knows your situation when something material happens. Ongoing planning pairs naturally with tax preparation. Most clients in this engagement use both.

Hourly consultation

For a focused question, or a second opinion.

For clients who don't need a comprehensive plan or an ongoing relationship, just a focused conversation on a specific decision, or a second opinion on a plan they already have.

Common reasons to hire us hourly

  • FERS or military retirement decision: election timing and benefit choices.
  • Pension election: survivor benefit comparisons.
  • RSU or equity event: sell, hold, and tax-coordination questions.
  • Inheritance: what to do with the next 90 days.
  • Second opinion on a plan you already have.
  • One specific question the existing planner won't take in isolation.
  • Pre-engagement diagnostic before a full plan or ongoing work.
  • Business decision: entity choice, retirement plan selection, reasonable comp.

When this fits

You have a specific decision in front of you and you want a second informed view before making it. An hourly consultation is scoped at engagement. Out-of-scope questions are a new engagement.
